Harbor Aquatics Club – Assistant Swim Coach

The mission of Harbor Aquatics Club is to provide a competitive team that prioritizes fun and safety while developing athletes of all levels to reach their maximum potential in a technique forward environment where hard work and respect are fostered in every ability level.

Harbor Aquatics Club is looking for an experienced, high quality, coach who is able to demonstrate strong leadership, swim technique competency, and a positive coaching demeanor. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a technique forward approach and will work well with athletes of all levels. The ideal candidate will be able to provide positive and constructive feedback to the athletes, provide competitive training, and provide a fun and safe environment. 

The position will require working weeknight practices and some weekend practices/meets. The position will primarily coach novice to intermediate level swimmers with occasional coaching of our advanced and elite athletes.  

The position will work primarily out of Peninsula High School in Gig Harbor, Washington. 

Qualifications/expectations:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Background as an aquatics athlete is preferred
  • Two or more years of coaching on a competitive swim team
  • Current USA Swimming Membership in good standing, which includes CPR/AED, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, Criminal Background Check, Athlete Protection Training, Concussion Protocol Training, USADA Coach’s Advantage Tutorial and Foundations of Coaching 101 & 201
  • Valid driver’s license required

Compensation:

Pay is based upon experience at a competitive flat rate per swim practice coached, and an hourly rate per swim meet coached. The right candidate would be expected to work a minimum 2 practices a week, with the opportunity to work up 6 practices a week.
